On a beautiful October afternoon in Amsterdam, we had the privilege to work with eight ambitious women leaders from the MENA region. These professional women visited the Netherlands as part of the Women Leadership Programme, organised by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency.
Women searching for their talents always give a special energy. As these brilliant leaders had been together for a week already, there was a lot of recognition and appreciation for the talents that we discovered. We even found talents that we had not heard of before. What do you think of a ‘mastermind’? Or a ‘happymaker’? Or ‘ magic touch’? There was also a ‘connector’, a ‘fixer’, a ‘discoverer’, an ‘understander’ and someone who gives confidence to everybody. Imagine how encouraging she is.
All these talents together created a wonderful atmosphere of collaboration, understanding and friendships within the group. And this is what they desperately need to face the huge challenges of their daily work for strengthening the position and rights of women in their societies. We explored how their talents can help to face these challenges. This resulted in a wide range of actions they will work on. Some actions were very personal, others more practical. We are sure that they will make a difference! Good luck Brilliant Women Leaders!
Sara from Morocco indicated that she would be interested to introduce the identification and use of talent among the women in her target group, so we hope that in the future more groups of female leaders in her country will work from their talent! To be continued....
